The Punjab and Haryana High Court has temporarily stayed the municipal council elections in Kharar. The matter reached the High Court because six villages that were included within the limits of Kharar Municipal Council in 2021 were not included in the ward delimitation process.
The villages of Tripri, Tolemajra, Peer Suhana, Daunmajra, Radyala, and Bhukhri were merged into the jurisdiction of Kharar Municipal Council in 2021. However, these villages were not included in the ward delimitation process, due to which residents of these villages would have been deprived of voting in the municipal council elections scheduled for May 26.
