The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has apprehended Davinder Pal Singh Reader to District Revenue Officer, Moga red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 20,000/-.

Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by a resident of village Chak Kanian Khurd, tehsil Dharamkot district Moga.

He informed that the complainant’s son had a pending case regarding the division of 13 acres of land in the court of the DRO, Moga. The accused Reader, Davinder Pal Singh, allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 1,00,000/- for an early settlement of the case within 5 to 6 months. He told the complainant to pay bribe money Rs 50,000/- as an advance and the remaining bribe Rs 50,000/- after the final settlement of the case. Complainant had recorded the entire conversation regarding demanding bribe.

Unwilling to pay illegal gratification, complainant approached the VB Unit Moga. Acting on his complaint, the VB team laid a trap during which the accused Reader was arrested red handed while accepting bribe money of Rs 20,000/- from the complainant in presence of two official witnesses.
