The NEET, SSC, CBSE and CUET Controversies Reflect Systemic Failure, The Government Failing to Ensure Transparent and Credible Exam System. The Youth Paying the Price for Administrative Failures
Face2News/Chandigarh
The Sirsa MP, General Secretary, Congress Working Committee (CWC) Member and Former Union Minister Kumari Selja alleged that the BJP-led government was jeopardising the future of the country’s youth as the examination system continued to be plagued by controversies and administrative lapses.
Kumari Selja said that a series of issues, including the NEET paper leak controversy, alleged irregularities in the SSC recruitment process, questions raised over the CBSE evaluation system and recent concerns surrounding the CUET examination, had exposed serious shortcomings in the government’s handling of education and recruitment processes.
Kumari Selja said the country’s youth spend years preparing for competitive examinations, but due to the government’s failures, both their hard work and future are being put at risk. The Congress leader Selja claimed that recurring controversies following major national examinations demonstrated the government’s inability to ensure a transparent, reliable and credible examination and recruitment system. Questioning the accountability of the authorities, Kumari Selja asked how seriously the Union Education Ministry and the Prime Minister viewed the future of the country’s youth.
She said that when one national-level examination after another was becoming embroiled in disputes and allegations of mismanagement, responsibility for such failures needed to be fixed. Kumari Selja alleged that the BJP government was not only discriminating against young people but was also undermining their aspirations and prospects. She said unemployment already remained a major challenge for the youth, while repeated irregularities in recruitment and entrance examinations were further eroding their confidence.
Kumari Selja demanded that the Centre ensure greater transparency in examination and recruitment procedures, take strict action against those found responsible for lapses and implement concrete measures to restore the trust of students and job aspirants. She also questioned how long millions of students and their families would continue to bear the consequences of what she described as the government’s failures in managing key educational and recruitment systems.
The Exam Papers in Bulletproof Vehicles Won’t Solve the Real Problem
Kumari Selja said the BJP government was now talking about transporting examination papers through helicopters and bulletproof vehicles, but the country’s youth wanted to know why controversies continued to surface after almost every major examination. She said the real issue was not the mode of transportation of question papers but the lack of accountability and responsibility within the examination system.
According to Kumari Selja, unless transparency, accountability and institutional responsibility were ensured, merely introducing new methods for transporting question papers would not restore the confidence of students and their families in the examination process.
