Rising spinner Manav Suthar from Sriganganagar has made his brilliant debut in the Indian Test team. In the five-day test match played between India and Afghanistan, Manav proved his ability by performing as an all-rounder in both the bowling and batting departments. Suthar is the first cricketer from the border district to make it to the Indian Test team. The magic of Manav Suthar’s spin bowling has also brought cheers to hundreds of fans in Sriganganagar and Abohar.
In Afghanistan’s first innings, he took 6 wickets for 33 runs in just 22 overs. During this period, he also bowled 10 overs and kept the economy rate at only 1.5. He proved his usefulness in batting as well by scoring 28 runs on 41 balls in the first innings. Afghanistan were given follow-on, in which Manav took one wicket in the second innings also. In this way he took a total of 7 wickets in the match.
In the debut test itself, he took the first wicket in the first over and did wonders by taking 6 wickets in the first innings. Manav Sudhar has become one of the few bowlers in the country who have already taken a wicket in their debut test. After the match, Manav Suthar said – During the spell, my focus was on bowling in the right places and relying on my strength. The wicket was helping, so I tried to bowl in the right places and bowl the right length as consistently as possible. There was some help from the wicket, and my strength is to turn the ball.
Manav took full advantage of the help of the wicket and used his spin bowling power properly.
