Sriganganagar Police have arrested Jaipur resident property dealer Renu Nathwat for allegedly conspiring firing on colonizer Ashish Gupta in Sriganganagar about a year ago. Sriganganagar Superintendent of Police Hari Shankar Yadav confirmed that 41-year-old Renu Nathwat has been arrested in this case. Seven accused, including Churu’s Praveen Singh Jodi and Mahipal Singh were earlier held, both having direct relation with gangster Rohit Godara alias Rohit Swami.
On June 17, 2025, when Ashish Gupta was coming out of the gym after exercising, two-three miscreants riding a motorcycle opened fire on him. Ashish Gupta was shot in the leg and narrowly escaped. After the firing, he was threatened that he survived this time but will not survive next time.
Police sources said, almost a yearlong investigation has revealed that the firing was related to a controversial land deal, its case was going on in the Sub-Divisional Officer Court. Ashish Gupta’s side wanted the registry of the land or the return of Rs 4 crore with interest, whereas the two brothers from Udaipur were not ready to return the basic amount only.
It is said that Renu, daughter of one of the two brothers connected with the deal, visited Sriganganagar and held several meetings with Ashish Gupta and party and tried to resolve the dispute. When the dispute was not resolved through legal means, Renu allegedly approached Nishu of Bikaner, Churu residents Praveen Jodi and Mahipal Singh, conduits of the Godara gang which handed over this work to Praveen-Mahipal.
After registering a case of attempt to murder, the police have arrested seven accused including Rahul of Narnaul, Purushottam of Kotkapura, Girdhari Lal Vikas, Praveen Singh Jodi, Mahipal Singh Churu, Manoj Kalia Jhunjhunu and Rohit Sharma Kanina Haryana. Now with complete evidence the Jaipur team has arrested Renu. Investigation is ongoing.
