MEDIA PLAYS AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT: DC

Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, during a formal meeting with media personnel today, said that media has an important role in social development. She said that the current era is of information and while journalists make the common people aware through meaningful flow of information, they also convey the voice of the people to the administration. In this way, they become a medium of two-way communication.

The DC said that the media is playing a commendable role by reaching the people with information about public welfare schemes and due to this, people are aware of their rights and entitlements.

(SUBHEAD)She asked the media to keep sharing feedback related to various areas with the administration from time to time so that people's issues can be resolved in a better way. Media has a comprehensive and meaningful understanding of the issues related to the people.

She took the views of the media persons and assured that the departments would be instructed to resolve the issues raised by them in an effective manner. The media persons assured that this partnership between the press and the administration will continue in a positive way.
