Face2News/Abohar.

Dozens of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar residents staged a dharna and blocked Fazilka-Abohar-Malout highway near the new Anaj Mandi causing a lot of inconvenience to people who were forced to pass through waterlogged streets in Nanak Nagari and Gobind Nagari area. Many vehicles got stuck as some of the streets were narrow.

They shouted slogans against AAP halqa incharge and former MLA Arun Narang and Municipal Corporation. They said a street in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar was not constructed for the past decade while the District Planning Board has recently sanctioned Rs 11.4 lakh to reconstruct the street adjoining Narang’s residence. They said that rain has made it difficult for the residents to pass through Street-1.

(SUBHEAD)Children could not go to schools as vans can’t pass through this muddy area. Milk and vegetable vendors too had refused to enter the street. Those present included Councilor Nirmaljit Singh Richie, Gurdeep Singh, BKU leader Sukhjinder Singh Rajan and Inderjit Bhandari.

SDM cum Municipal Corporation Assistant Commissioner Krishan Pal Rajput visited the protest site and assured to address their grievance. On this, the blockade was called off.
