RTI ACTIVIST SEEKS CHANCELLOR’S INTERVENTION OVER ALLEGED VIOLATION OF PANJAB UNIVERSITY NORMS IN PRINCIPAL SELECTION PROCESS

Face2News/Chandigarh,

RTI activist Dr. Rajinder K. Singla has urged the Chancellor of Panjab University and Vice President of India to intervene in what he has termed a violation of Panjab University’s own guidelines governing the conduct of interviews for appointments in affiliated colleges.

In a representation addressed to the Chancellor, Dr. Singla stated that interviews for the post of Principal of JC DAV College, Dasuya (District Hoshiarpur) have been scheduled for 14 July 2026 at MCM DAV College for Women, Sector 36-A, Chandigarh.

He pointed out that Panjab University, through Letter No. 2793-3003 dated 13 June 2024 issued by the Deputy Registrar (Colleges), had directed all affiliated non-government colleges that interviews for selection and Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) promotions shall be conducted *only at* the concerned *college* premises *or at DCDC Bhawan, Panjab University* .

According to Dr. Singla, *conducting the interview at a third venue* is inconsistent with the University’s own prescribed procedure and raises questions about adherence to established norms. He has requested the Chancellor to ensure that the selection process is conducted strictly in accordance with the University’s notified guidelines and that any arbitrary deviation from the prescribed procedure is prevented.

Dr. Singla stated that transparent and uniform implementation of institutional rules is essential to preserve the credibility and fairness of appointments in affiliated colleges. He has sought immediate intervention to safeguard the integrity of the selection process.
