Four cattle died this morning in Subhash Nagar here after coming into contact with electrified water resulting from recent rainfall. Residents reported that a street in Subhash Nagar—which leads to Waryam Nagar—remained waterlogged because rainwater from the heavy downpour, lasting from last night until morning, failed to be drained away. Around 5:00 AM, the accumulated water suddenly became electrified, instantly killing two bulls and two cows. Fortunately, no residents were passing through the area at the time. People are currently forced to wade through the waterlogged streets.
Locals alleged that the incident was caused by 11,000-volt power lines passing near their homes. They also cited issues with clogged sewage lines and demanded that the Municipal Corporation urgently improve the sewerage system to facilitate proper drainage.
The city experienced heavy rainfall last night, causing waterlogging in most low-lying areas. Due to a power outage, the water remained stagnant in many neighbourhoods until morning. The newly appointed Mayor and the Municipal Corporation team toured the city and activated the disposal pumps after electricity supply resumed, allowing drainage operations to begin. School children faced the greatest difficulty commuting, and some schools even declared a holiday. The administration had been in charge of this area for four months but had completely neglected sewerage lines desilting issues, residents said.
