The CBI Court, Ghaziabad, on Friday, has convicted and sentenced the accused Umesh Kumar Singhal, Branch Manager, Sarva UP Gramin Bank, Branch- Machhra, Meerut, UP to Four Years Imprisonment with a fine of Rs.10,000 in a bribery case.
The CBI registered the instant case on 28.04.2016 against the accused Umesh Kumar Singhal, Branch Manager, UP Gramin Bank, Branch-Machhra, Meerut, UP. It was alleged that the accused Branch Manager demanded a bribe of Rs.28,000 from the complainant for sanctioning and disbursing the loan of Rs.2,50,000 in favour of Indira Joint Liability Group having account in UP Gramin Bank, Machhra, Meerut. After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept a bribe of Rs. 25,000 from the complainant.
The CBI laid a trap and caught the accused Umesh Kumar Singhal red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs.25,000 from the complainant.After investigation, the CBI filed Chargesheet on 24.06.2016 against the accused. The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the accused accordingly.
