Panic had gripped College Road in broad daylight when someone using a motorcycle opened rapid fire at the occupants of a Fortuner SUV. Although none was injured in the incident, it has sparked fear among the students and nearby markets.
DSP Harish Kumar had led a police team to the site and started investigating the matter and scanning nearby CCTV footage.
People nearby said that non-students, having bad intentions, had been roaming in cars around the DAV Campus that has three colleges and a model school. Many can be seen staying around unlicensed vendors besides adjoining streets. There had been frequent incidents of Bullet bikes blowing “pataka” in violation of traffic rules also. As admissions were going on, more nuisance was apprehended. People demanded vendors should be removed and cops be deployed from outside the college campus.
