Shaheed Bhagat Singh State University (SBSSU), commenced its induction programme for newly admitted students to familiarise them with the university’s academic environment, research activities, student facilities and opportunities for overall personality development.
The programme was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Dr Suresh Kumar Sharma, who welcomed the fresh batch and encouraged students to view the university as more than just a place to earn a degree. He said the institution provides a platform for knowledge, innovation, research, character building and social responsibility. He urged students to remain disciplined, work hard and pursue their goals with a positive outlook, assuring them of the university’s full support throughout their academic journey.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr Sohan Singh, who spoke on the importance of psychology and mental well-being. He highlighted the significance of positive thinking, self-confidence, stress management, effective communication and informed decision-making. He encouraged students to stay focused on their goals, manage time efficiently and maintain a positive attitude to achieve success in life.
Programme coordinator Dr Rakesh Kumar welcomed the guests, faculty members and students and outlined the schedule of the induction programme. He said the university has planned a series of academic, research, cultural and co-curricular activities in the coming days to help new students adapt to campus life and make the most of their university experience.
The event was attended by the university’s deans, heads of departments, faculty members, staff and a large number of newly admitted students.
Concluding the programme, Dr Rakesh Kumar proposed a vote of thanks and expressed confidence that the induction programme would provide students with a strong foundation for a successful academic journey at the university.
