Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said the sacred programme of Gau Katha and Gau Mata Seva organised on the holy land of Samana in Patiala district of Punjab is a testimony to India’s great spiritual and Sanatan tradition. Dedicated to the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Hind Di Chadar, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ceremony is a remarkable and unique confluence of faith, the tradition of service and our shared cultural heritage. On the occasion, the Gau Seva Samiti, Advocates’ Association and several other social organisations welcomed Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini by presenting him with mementoes and shawls.

Historic Steps for Cow Protection

Addressing the ceremony, Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that before 2014, there were only 200 Gaushalas in Haryana and their annual budget was merely Rs. 2 crores. As a result of the efforts of the present government, the number of Gaushalas in the state has now increased to 650, while their budget has been raised to a record Rs. 600 crores. More than 4 lakh stray cattle are currently being cared for in these Gaushalas with complete devotion and respect.

He said to ensure that the cattle do not face any inconvenience, large sheds and solar power plants have been established in 350 Gaushalas across the state. In addition, with the objective of promoting cow conservation, the 1 per cent stamp duty charged on registration of land for establishing new Gaushalas has been completely abolished.

Sports Culture, Youth Power and Drug De-addiction Campaign

The Chief Minister said the Haryana Government has launched a comprehensive and extensive campaign to protect young people from the social evil of drug abuse. Strict action is being taken against drug peddlers. While the youth in Punjab is increasingly falling prey to drug abuse due to the neglect of the Punjab Government, Haryana has established 2,000 sports nurseries to connect youth with sports grounds, where around 40 lakh young people practice every day.

The result of this sports policy is that out of the total 39 medals won by India at the recent Commonwealth Games, including 13 gold medals, Haryana players alone won 7 gold medals. It is a matter of pride that 5 of these 7 gold medals were won by daughters of Haryana, bringing glory to the country and the state on the world stage.

Development and Transparent Governance in the Country Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Leadership

Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, the country has made unprecedented progress. Revolutionary changes have taken place in road and rail connectivity, while a record number of new medical colleges, universities, IITs and IIMs have been established.

Referring to Haryana, he said that medical colleges have now been started in 17 out of the state’s 22 districts. Before 2014, Haryana received only 500 doctors annually, whereas this number has now increased to 3,000 doctors every year. At the same time, government jobs are being provided to the youth in Haryana with complete transparency and without “kharchi-parchi”, while the neighbouring state of Punjab continues to discriminate against youth in the distribution of government jobs.

On the occasion, Swami Rajeshwaranand Maharaj, Harmesh Goyal, Neeraj Jindal, Rajesh Jindal, Advocate Balbir Singh, Jitender, Jaspal, along with several institutional representatives, religious leaders and dignitaries, were also present.
