DIGITAL STALKER ARRESTED BY CYBER POLICE STATION

FAKE INSTAGRAM IDS CREATED IN VICTIM’S NAME TO HARASS AND DEFAME HER,  MOBILE PHONE USED IN CRIME RECOVERED

The Cyber Police Station, North-East District, has successfully arrested a digital stalker and solved a sensitive case involving online harassment, mental torture and defamation through the creation of fake social media profiles in the victim’s name.

A case vide FIR No. 22/2026, U/s 67A IT Act, was registered on the complaint of a female resident of North-East District, Delhi. The complainant reported that she was being harassed and mentally tortured through social media by an unknown person who repeatedly created fake Instagram accounts using her name and photographs. These accounts were allegedly used to send obscene videos and images to her husband and acquaintances with the malicious intention of defaming her and causing mental harassment.

During the course of investigation, a dedicated team led by Inspr. Rahul Kumar, SHO/Cyber PS/NED, comprising SI Mohit, HC Sandeep and Ct. Kapil Sharma, conducted a detailed technical investigation and gathered vital clues. The details of the suspected Instagram accounts were obtained. Analysis of the information revealed that the accounts were being created and operated using a mobile number registered in the name of Jeetu Kumar.

Acting on the technical leads, the police team conducted raids and apprehended Jeetu Kumar, aged 27 years, S/o Dinbandhu, R/o New Ashok Nagar, Delhi. One mobile phone allegedly used in the commission of the offence was also recovered from his possession.

During sustained interrogation, it was revealed that the accused was known to the victim and had been following her since 2022. With the intention of defaming and harassing the victim, he allegedly created multiple fake Instagram IDs using her name and photograph as profile pictures, thereby creating an impression that the accounts belonged to the victim.

The accused allegedly used these fake accounts to send pornographic and obscene material to persons known to the victim. Whenever the fake accounts were reported and taken down, the accused allegedly created new accounts and repeated the same activity, causing continued mental harassment and distress to the victim.

Ulatimately accused Jeetu Kumar, 27 years S/o Dinbandhu R/o New Ashok Nagar, Delhi, have been arrested and one  mobile phone allegedly used in the commission of the offence.recovered and investigating., said Rahool Alwal, IPS, DCP North East Distt.
