NO FIR REGISTERED IN KIDNAP, ASSAULT OF BSMF CHIEF QURESHI AT LAHORE

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi, Chairman, Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation Pakistan, has expressed outrage over failure of police in registering FIR by the Mizang Police Station at Lahore against the unidentified persons who had allegedly kidnapped him and tortured on September 3.

Qureshi had in his complaint said that on September 3 at about 8:00 p.m., he was on his way home and, after reaching near MAO College from Jain Mandir, a black-coloured luxury car stopped near him. The persons travelling in the said vehicle called the applicant towards them on the pretext of asking for an address. When the applicant approached them, three to four unknown persons travelling in the vehicle, who were armed with firearms, forcibly abducted the applicant and made him sit inside their vehicle. They blindfolded him and subjected him to severe physical torture.

As a result of the assault, Qureshi sustained a deep injury to his head, and his hearing on the left side was also affected. There are visible marks of physical violence on various parts of his body. During the assault and torture, the accused persons repeatedly issued serious threats to the applicant and stated: “You will now be taught a lesson for working on Bhagat Singh. You are an agent of India, an enemy of Pakistan, and India is providing you foreign funding.”

The accused persons further categorically threatened the applicant that if he continued working for the mission and legacy of Bhagat Singh, he could even be killed.

Thereafter, the accused persons took the applicant towards Maqbara Jahangir Road, Shahdara, where they abandoned him and fled from the scene.

Qureshi urged the police station to register FIR against the unknown armed accused persons under the relevant provisions of law and initiate strict legal proceedings against them. Immediately arrange for the applicant’s medical examination and MLC (Medico-Legal Certificate) through the competent medical authority. Conduct a fair, transparent and thorough investigation into the entire incident and make every possible effort to identify, trace and arrest the accused persons. Secure and obtain all available CCTV footage, electronic evidence and other relevant material relating to the incident and preserve the same as part of the investigation.

In view of the serious threats extended to the applicant and the apprehension of further harm to his life and safety, provide him appropriate protection in accordance with law.

But, the victim till date awaits action and has decided to approach the competent court.
