IAF AND JASDF CONDUCT JOINT EXERCISE

Jodhpur witnessed the second edition of Ex Veer Guardian, a bilateral exercise between Indian Air Force (IAF) and Japan Air and Self Defence Force (JASDF). 

The Exercise started recently with JASDF contingent landing with on a C-2 aircraft with their contingent. While their fighters F-2 fetching up from the Tsiuki Air Base. IAF participated with Su-30 MKI, Tejas and Rafale aircraft.

During the period of the exercise the participating contingent flew various combat missions; they also participated in subject matter experts interaction. As part of cultural exchange, Yoga was practiced on September 12.

The Exercise saw some senior commanders visiting the base to oversee the training Lt Gen Tasaki Takehiro, Commander, Western Air Defence Force, JASDF visited the base and interacted with the contingents and senior
leadership of the IAF. 

Today the CAS of the IAF, ACM AP Singh, flying solo lead a formation of Tejas aircraft with Chief of Staff of JASDF, Gen Morita Takehiro as his wingman, co-piloted by Gp Capt I Samrat. He was shown the capability of Tejas aircraft and systems; they also did a fly in over the airfield and a peel off manoeuvre to land back.

Both of them then gave a Joint Press Statement in which they mentioned the joint training programmes being initiated to share the operational tactics, expertise and bring out lessons for implementation in the future collective endeavours. They also acknowledged the fact that mutual understanding and shared expertise between both nations’ AIR FORCE by way of EX VEER GUARDIAN will go a long way in paving way for future engagements of similar nature both on Indian soil and in Japan
