HOSMAC’S HOSPITAL ENGINEERING SUMMIT BROUGHT TOGETHER HEALTHCARE LEADERS, ARCHITECTS, ENGINEERS AND INFRASTRUCTURE EXPERTS TO DISCUSS RESILIENT, SUSTAINABLE AND FUTURE-READY HEALTHCARE FACILITIES

HOSMAC, Asia’s leading hospital planning, design and management consultancy, hosted the 6th edition of the Hospital Engineering Summit (HES) today at Hyatt Regency, Chandigarh. Held under the theme ‘Benchmarking Excellence: Challenges for Hospital Infrastructure’, the summit brought together leading stakeholders from across the healthcare ecosystem to discuss the evolving requirements, challenges and opportunities shaping hospital infrastructure in India.
The summit brought together industry leaders including Mr PL Mehta, Vice-Chairman, Ambuja Neotia Healthcare Venture Limited; Ar Prithi Pendharkar, Business Practice Director, CannonDesign; Dr Vishavdeep Goyal, COO, IITK-FMR and Dr Rudradatta Shrotriya, Head Commissioning & Operations, Tata Cancer Care Foundation, among others.
The event placed particular emphasis on the need for hospital infrastructure to evolve alongside changing models of healthcare delivery. Discussions covered hospital planning and design, engineering and MEP systems, HVAC, medical infrastructure, project and facility management, sustainability, technology integration and operational efficiency.
The HOSMAC leadership team, including Dr Vivek Desai, Founder & Managing Director; Mr Sameer Mehta, Director, Projects and Ar Nandini Bazaz, Director, Architecture Services also participated in the discussions. Ar Mihir Desai, Director – Urban Design, delivered the opening and closing address at the summit and Ar Ishan Desai, Director – Computational Architecture, led a session on planning smart hospitals, discussing energy mapping and the HEAT approach.

The day-long summit discussed the importance of designing hospitals that are resilient, adaptable, energy-efficient and patient-centric, while ensuring that infrastructure decisions remain closely aligned with operational and clinical requirements. The role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of healthcare infrastructure and hospital operations also emerged as an important area of discussion.
A key highlight of the summit was a case study by L&T (Larsen & Toubro) on Pre-Engineered Hospital Buildings, which explored the planning, engineering, design and execution considerations involved in developing complex healthcare infrastructure at scale. The session was led by Ar Nithyanand N, Head – Initiatives, Health Business, L&T Construction.
Over the years, HOSMAC’s Hospital Engineering Summit has evolved into a platform for cross-disciplinary dialogue on healthcare planning, design, engineering and management. The 6th edition, held in Chandigarh, extended this conversation to the wider Northern healthcare ecosystem and brought together stakeholders to examine the challenges and opportunities shaping the next generation of healthcare facilities.
