GUNSHOT FIRED OUTSIDE SHRI VALMIKI MANDIR IN ABOHAR; YOUTH CRITICALLY INJURED, MLA CONDEMNS THE INCIDENT

Tension gripped the Sant Nagar area of Abohar this afternoon when a masked individual opened fire with the intent to kill a young man during a Panchayat (community meeting) taking place at Shri Valmiki Mandir. The victim sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the hospital; due to his critical condition, he was immediately referred to higher facility. The area is dominated by SC community families.

According to reports, Ajay (son of Raj Kumar, aged approximately 28), a resident of Sant Nagar, was standing outside the local Shri Valmiki Temple along with other volunteers after discussing the installation of a shed. Suddenly, a masked youth approached and fired two shots directly at Ajay. One bullet struck him in the chest, causing him to collapse on the spot. The assailant fled the scene; although bystanders attempted to chase him, he managed to escape.

People present at the scene attended to Ajay and rushed him to the Civil Hospital. Observing his critical condition, doctors immediately referred him to a higher medical facility.

Condemning the incident, MLA Sandeep Jakhar said that AAP leadership in Punjab was allegedly inducting individuals with criminal backgrounds and those linked to the illegal liquor trade into the Aam Aadmi Party, what can the people of the state expect from the government regarding the maintenance of law and order?

Raising questions about leaders like AAP Punjab incharge Manish Sisodia, the MLA alleged that anti-social elements are being granted political patronage under the “Saam, Daam, Dand, Bhed” policy drafted for the next Assembly election. He demanded that the government immediately arrest the perpetrators of the firing incident in Abohar and take concrete steps to restore law and order in the city
