INCLUDE THE HISTORY OF ASAFWALA MARTYRS IN SCHOOL CURRICULUM : PRESIDENT MURMU

A delegation from the Asafwala Martyrs’ Memorial, led by Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria along with Asafwala War Memorial President Karan Gilhotra, met President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Tuesday. During the meeting, the delegation formally invited the President to attend the annual Shaheedi Diwas Samaroh to be held in December at Asafwala in Fazilka.

The delegation included social worker and president of the Martyrs’ Memorial Committee Karan Gilhotra, along with its general secretary Praful Chander Nagpal. They briefed the President on the glorious history of the Asafwala War Memorial and the sacrifices of the soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation. On the occasion, they presented her with the invitation letter, a handmade painting of the Asafwala memorial, and a coffee-table book documenting the martyrs’ inspiring legacy.

During the meeting, President Droupadi Murmu suggested that the history of the martyrs of Asafwala should be included in school curricula so that the younger generation can learn about the sacrifices of the brave soldiers, develop a spirit of patriotism, and draw inspiration from their lives.

Karan Gilhotra said that, in response to the President’s suggestion, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria assured the delegation that every possible effort would be made to have Asafwala’s history included in the educational curriculum. He said that preserving and conveying the martyrs’ legacy to the younger generation is a collective responsibility of society
