IRS XI TRIUMPHS WHILE ARTISTS XI CLINCH THRILLER IN THE GULLY CRICKET EXHIBITION MATCHES

Indian Revenue Services (IRS) XI comprising taxation officers convincingly defeated Chartered Accountants XI by 57 runs in an exhibition match held under the aegis of the Gully Cricket Tournament at GMSSS-26 on Sunday.

Led by Simrat Singh Bawa, IRS XI posted 88/5 in the allotted 10 overs with Shamsher Singh and Manoj contributing 20 runs each. For the CAs, Shubham Monga took two wickets. In reply, Jitender Challa (3/6), Ashish Bhatt (2/5) and Tarun Khurana (2/9) bowled brilliantly to bundle out CAs for just 31 runs. JS Negi, Chief Commissioner, CGST Zone Chandigarh, and CA Sunil Gupta, Treasurer, PCA Mohali felicitated both teams.

(SUBHEAD)Earlier, Artists XI edged past Chandigarh Press Club (CPC) in a thrilling encounter by 16 runs. Nitin Negi (30) and Saurav Rawat (26) powered Artists XI to 101/6 while Gurminder Singh picked up 3/6 for CPC. Despite a 49-run partnership between Gaurav Marwaha and Deepankar Sharda, CPC fell short and were restricted to 85/7. Marwaha (30) was the top scorer. Noted actor and comedian Gurpreet Ghuggi felicitated the teams in the presence of UTCA President Sanjay Tandon.

Meanwhile, 27 routine matches of the Gully Cricket Tournament were played across the city, and a vibrant flash mob at Sector 17 Plaza invited audiences to upcoming matches.
