Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Chandigarh, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in collaboration with the UT Administration, Chandigarh, is celebrating the 7th edition of Poshan Pakhwada from April 8th to 22nd, 2025. This event includes cultural performances and community outreach activities to raise awareness about nutrition and health.

Private Registered Troupes (PRTs) have been engaged to perform Nukkad Nataks (street plays) at various locations across the Union Territory. The performances focus on important aspects like proper nutrition, obesity prevention, maternal care, the Poshan Tracker App, and the significance of the first 1000 days of a child's life.

Recent cultural activities successfully held at: * Ayushman Health Centre, (Hallo Majra), Chandigarh* Anganwadi Centre, Sector 42-C), Chandigarh * Kundan Nagar (Mouli Jagran), Chandigarh

The plays emphasized this year’s campaign theme — “Shuddh Jal aur Swachhta Se Swasth Bachpan” with the tagline “Purn Poshan Ki Shuruwaat, Shuddh Jal aur Swachhta Ke Saath”. The performances highlighted key areas like the importance of the first 1000 days of life, promoting the Poshan Tracker App, addressing malnutrition through the CMAM module (Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition), and encouraging healthy lifestyles to combat childhood obesity. The message reinforced the critical role of clean water and hygiene in achieving proper nutrition.

(SUBHEAD) The attendees said that “they had limited knowledge before, but now they are aware about the importance of proper nutrition for children's physical growth and mental well-being, the essential diet for pregnant women, and appropriate post-birth child care.

” The overall feedback from the local audience was positive, and the Health Department appreciated the performances for driving behavioral change at the grassroots level. The Health Department emphasized that more cultural activities should be organized to raise awareness in the community, as such performances have proven to be highly effective and impactful in spreading key messages related to health and nutrition.

Our cultural activities are currently being organized and planned across the states of Punjab and Himachal, with more such events set to take place in the coming days. Future initiatives will include such as interactive sessions, awareness camps, and cultural engagements will take place to continue promoting messages around nutrition, health, and hygiene. CBC Chandigarh is also using social media to spread the campaign’s message and engage the wider community.

Poshan Pakhwada is aimed at combating malnutrition through community participation and behavioral change, making it a people-driven movement for a healthier, nourished India.
