In a momentous celebration marking the Golden Jubilee year of Shri Dhanwantry Ayurvedic College and Hospital (SDACH), Sector 46, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh,Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, laid the foundation stone of a 250-bed Super Speciality Ayurveda Hospital . The hospital is being developed as a Centre of Excellence under the Ayurswasthya Yojana of the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, with a grant of nearly Rs. 10 crore.

Speaking on the occasion, Administrator Chandigarh Shri Gulab Chand Kataria congratulated the institution and said that this is not merely the laying of a building’s foundation, but a significant step towards blending India’s ancient healing system – Ayurveda – with a modern scientific outlook. He said that this centre, focused on the Ayurvedic management of spinal disorders, will benefit not only the citizens of Chandigarh but also patients from neighbouring states.

Sh Kataria appreciated the contribution of Shri Dhanwantri Educational Society, established in 1975, which has remained committed to quality Ayurvedic education, ethical medical service, and research for the past five decades. The Governor noted that over 2,500 graduates from the college are now contributing meaningfully to the healthcare sector across the country.

With the integration of modern tools such as telemedicine, digital health technologies, and the Ayush Grid, Ayurveda is becoming more practical, accessible, and empowered than ever before, he said.
