DESH BHAGAT UNIVERSITY PRO-CHANCELLOR DR. TAJINDER KAUR PRESENTS TURBANS TO CHILDREN

On the auspicious occasion of Baisakhi and Khalsa Sajna Diwas, Desh Bhagat University Chancellor Dr. Zora Singh and Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur presented turbans to young Singhs at Gurdwara Sahib Sector 8, Chandigarh. This program is part of the drug-free campaign run by Desh Bhagat University in Punjab. More and more youth should follow the Guru and adopt Sikhism.

On this occasion, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur said that Desh Bhagat University and Desh Bhagat Radio institutions are always ready to contribute their share in social welfare works. She said that they try their best to contribute maximum in religious and social works. Every year, on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji Prakash Purab and Khalsa Sajna Diwas, Baisakhi, the management committee of the Gurdwara Sahib organizes turban decorating competitions, in which they contribute a lot.

(SUBHEAD)On this occasion, turban decorating competitions were organized for students of different schools of the tricity in the age group of seven to seventeen years. Dr. Tajinder Kaur gave turbans and certificates to Kamalpreet Singh (Shri Guru Harkrishan Public School Sector 40-C), Hartej Singh (City Global School Zirakpur) and Japman Singh (Shri Guru Gobind Singh Public School Sector 35-B) who came first, second and third respectively. Cash prizes were also given to the children who won the consolation competition.

A total of 51 children were presented with turbans. Sukhjinder Singh Behl, president of the Gurdwara Management Committee, appreciated the contribution made by Desh Bhagat University. He said that today's youth should stay away from social evils and adopt Sikhism. On this occasion, the President of the Istri Sabha, Mrs. Mallika Singh and the in-charge of religious functions, Satnam Singh, were also present.
