Senior Citizens Forum in its monthly meeting stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness in the city, especially during festivals. The Forum urged all NGOs organising langar (community meals) on the occasion of Mahashivratri to place proper dustbins at the langar sites to ensure proper disposal of waste.
The meeting was chaired by the Forum's president Pradeep Kumar Dhawan, accompanied by secretary Satish Puri and cashier Gatinder Kamal. Patrons Harish Monga and S.P. Kheda were also present.
(SUBHEAD)Addressing the members, the Forum emphasised that while there is devotion and community service during festivals, they should not compromise on cleanliness and hygiene. The members said that improper disposal of food waste and plastic during langar often leads to littering, leaving the city dirty. To tackle this problem, the Manch urged all social organisations to ensure waste management by placing large dustbins at langar sites.
“This simple step will not only keep the city clean but will also enhance its beauty and reflect the spirit of devotion in a responsible manner,” the Manch said. The Senior Citizens Forum appealed to NGOs, volunteers and devotees to actively participate in keeping the city clean. They emphasised that collective efforts towards cleanliness will set a positive example and contribute to the overall beautification of the city during the auspicious festival.
