WESTERN COMMAND ENHANCES HEALTHCARE FACILITIES FOR VETERANS

Face2News/Chandigarh

A collegiate review of the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) was chaired by Army Commander Lt Gen Manoj Kumar Katiyar, GOC-in-C at Headquarters Western Command. The meeting aimed to upgrade healthcare facilities for Defence Services Veterans and their dependents.

Key initiatives discussed include revising the common drug list, IT automation in polyclinics, mobile units for remote areas, and a pilot project for home delivery of medicines. The Army Commander emphasized the need to infuse Artificial Intelligence in medicine management and oversight mechanisms.

To enhance facilities, five new polyclinics have been sanctioned in Western Command, and 12 high-pressure polyclinics have been upgraded with additional manpower and equipment. An additional Rs 5.2 crores in welfare funds have been allocated for augmenting ECHS facilities.

The Army Commander directed special attention to the healthcare needs of senior veterans above 80 years, veer naris, and widows. These initiatives demonstrate the Western Command's commitment to providing quality healthcare services to veterans and their families.
