He is the recipient of the Dr. BC Roy National Award (2016) and the Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Award (2021), and has had a distinguished career as the former Head of Surgery and Chairman of the Division of Minimal Access Surgery at Maulana Azad Medical College & Lok Nayak Hospital, New Delhi. With credentials including MS, DNB, FRCS (Edinburgh, Glasgow, Ireland), FMAS, FIMSA, FCLS, FACS, and FRCSEd, Dr. Lal is considered one of the leading figures in the advancement of Minimal Access and Robotic Surgery in India.
