The Fazilka Police conducted a special investigation operation (CASO) across the district today. This was led by IG Paramraj Singh Umranangal. SSP Varinder Singh Brar accompanied the IG.
(MOREPIC1) During this a wide-scale search operation was conducted by the police at Fazilka railway station, similar operations were also conducted in the sub-divisions.
The IG said that strict vigilance is being kept by the police due to the festivals. Also, as per the instructions of the Election Commission, heavy security arrangements are being made to ensure panchayat elections in a fair and peaceful manner.
He said that Fazilka is a border district and vigilance is being maintained by the police along the international border as well as the border with Rajasthan through hi-tech checkpoints at the inter-state border. He said that strict action is being taken by the police against drug peddlers.
SSP Brar said that the district police are fully prepared for festivals and panchayat elections.
A total of 5 FIRs were registered during the special cordon and search operation (CASO) conducted by the Fazilka police today. Four accused have been arrested and 10 gm of heroin, one motorcycle, one LCD, 5 mobile phones have been recovered and 800 litres of raw liquor has been destroyed.
