On the 43rd death anniversary of the great freedom fighter and messiah of journalism, Amar Shaheed Lala Jagat Narain, the Lekhak Parishad paid rich tributes to him.

Among those who offered flowers to the portrait of Lala Ji were Parishad chief Raj Sadosh, Sahitya Sadan in-charge Dr. Sandeep Watts, Dr. M. L. Madan, Punjab Kesari Group correspondent Sunil Bhardwaj, Advocate Sheetal Bajaj, Dushyant Rinwa, Rajkumar, Satish Watts, Rajesh Munjal, Sajan Verma, Jyoti Verma, Sunil Sokhal, Ami Chand and Gagan.

(SUBHEAD)Raj Sadosh said that while studying in Lahore, Lalaji joined the patriots who blew the bugle of independence and later started publication of Urdu newspaper Hind Samachar. He had the privilege of working with Punjab Kesari Lala Lajpat Rai. After the partition of the country, he came to Jalandhar and established new dimensions in the field of Hindi and Punjabi journalism along with Urdu. Walking on the difficult path of raising the voice of the people, he faced many challenges with strength.

Dr. Sandeep Watts said that whenever Lala ji visited Abohar, he used to have discussions with freedom fighter, Sahitya Sadan secretary and former minister Chandi Ram Ji Verma and Swami Keshwanand, founder of Sahitya Sadan.

Now, in the centenary year of Sahitya Sadan, the memory of such great men is being refreshed. Lala ji's family is now dedicated to the service of the nation following his high ideals through the prestigious group of newspapers besides helping victims of terrorism.
