VIGILANCE BOOKED PANCHAYAT SECRETARY, SARPANCH AND PRIVATE PERSON FOR MISAPPROPRIATION IN PM AWAAS YOJNA GRANT

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), has registered a case against Panchayat Secretary Santokh Singh, posted at Block Development and Panchayats Office, Fazilka, Mahla Singh, Sarpanch and Mukhtiar Singh, both residents of village Saidey Ke Hithad in Fazilka district for illegally usurping central grant amounting to Rs 1,20,000 under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna (PMAY). 

Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the VB revealed that during enquiry of a complaint, it was found that the above said Mukhtiar Singh had received funds amounting to Rs 1,20,000 fraudulently under PMAY despite already having a five marla built up house on the Panchayat land allotted by the state government in his village. 

He further informed that the above said accused Sarpanch Mahla Singh and Panchayat Secretary Santokh Singh, in connivance with each other, had approved the self-declaration of illegal beneficiary Mukhtiar Singh despite having knowledge of his pucca house in the village. 

Giving more details he informed that on the basis of this enquiry a case under section 13(1)A read with 13(2) of prevention of corruption act and under sections 409, 467, 468, 471, 120-B of IPC has been registered against all the above said accused at the VB Police Station, Ferozepur Range. Further investigation into this case was under progress.
