Mr. Kulbhushan Sharma, State President, Federation of Private Schools Welfare Association, while addressing a press conference at Chandigarh Press Club, said that the association will not tolerate any kind of discrimination against the students studying in schools recognized by the Haryana Government and will fight for them at all costs to ensure a discrimination-free Haryana.
Mr. Kulbhushan Sharma said that a few days ago, Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Nayab Singh Saini provided scholarship of Rs 1 lakh 11 thousand to the students who had scored 90% marks in class 12th, which is a welcome step as such efforts create enthusiasm among meritorious children but those who were studying in private schools, in the same standard, under Haryana Board, were ignored, which shows deliberate discrimination between the children studying in private and government schools. “It would have been better if the government had honored all the students who have achieved merit regardless of their schools, he added.
(MOREPIC1)(SUBHEAD)Mr. Sharma said that the government does not charge any examination fee from the students studying in government schools of Haryana Board whereas fee is charged from private school students. “During the erstwhile Congress government regime, no examination fee used to be charged from SC students. We have repeatedly demanded the current government to waive the examination fee of SC students in private schools as before, but none was fulfilled.”
Mr. Kulbhushan Sharma said that money is charged from the private school students in the name of ‘Sports Fund’ whereas no such fee is charged from the government school students. He also added that passenger tax of Rs. 20 is also charged per seat from the students of private schools for commuting by school bus which exposes the discrimination policy against the students of private schools.
The Federation demanded that this discrimination against the students be abolished immediately. In addition, it was also demanded that the payment of 134-A, the debt on the government towards the private schools should be immediately released or it will have to pay for it in the upcoming assembly elections.
Mr. Sharma said that the federation had given an ultimatum till August 20 regarding its 55 demands to the government, which has passed today and the Federation will now meet the Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda and will present its point before him.
