UNION HOME SECRETARY REVIEW ON IMPLEMENTATION OF THE THREE NEW CRIMINAL LAWS

Union Home Secretary, Sh. Ajay Kumar Bhalla visited UT Chandigarh to review the implementation of New Criminal Laws with the all stakeholders from Police, Judiciary, Law & Prosecution wing, CFSL, NIC, and the Prison Department. This is in continuation of earlier meeting held on 22.12.2023 at Chandigarh regarding charting out the blueprint for the execution of three ground reaking Criminal Laws.

The meeting was Chaired by the Union Home Secretary and attended by Sh. Tapan Kumar Deka Director Intelligence Bureau, Sh. Shyamal Misra Additional Secretary Women Safety, Smt. Sushma Chauhan  Director Women Safety , Sh Vivek Gogia Director NCRB ,Sh. Rajeev Verma Adviser to the Administrator,Sh. Surendra Singh Yadav DGP/UT Chandigarh,Sh. Nitin Kumar Yadav Home Secretary  Chandigarh, Sh. Raj Kumar Singh IGP/UT, Sh Ramesh Chander Dimri Registrar General Punjab and Haryana High Court, Sh. Arunvir Vashista District Session Judge,Sh. Ajay Sharda Director Chandigarh Judicial Academy and Smt Sukhminder Kaur Director CFSL.

(SUBHEAD)During the meeting, review was done regarding preparedness of Chandigarh Police and other concerned verticals in the areas of Human resources, training, infrastructure and Capacity building, application of digital architecture in the field of investigation including e-forensics.

Union Home Secretary was also briefed about the campaign regarding awareness on the three new criminal laws. There was discussion and review of the preparedness of Prison, CFSL, Law and Prosecution department and NIC too.

Earlier in the day, Hon'ble Union Home Secretary visited Police Station-Sector 26, where a trial based test FIR was registered under the three New Criminal laws and was test reviewed with the Hon’ble court.

A live demonstration of scene of crime videography, electronic recording of scene of crime, collection of evidence, VC system and CCTNS up-gradation was given.
