On the occasion of International Women's Day, Western Command organised various events and activities at Chandimandir, Amritsar, Tibri and various other Military Stations.
(MOREPIC1) In order to promote awareness on health of women, lectures on ‘HPV Vaccine and Cervical Cancer’ by Lieutenant Colonel Rudrika Chandra, Gynoncologist and ‘Women Health Hygiene’ by Lieutenant Colonel Shikha Sharma, Classified Specialist (Obst & Gyn) at Chandimandir Military Station were organised. Mrs Shuchi Katiyar, Regional President AWWA, Western Command graced the occasion.
The talks were attended by 350 ladies. In a bid to promote healthy living by regular exercising, a ‘Run for Fun’ Mini Marathon covering a distance of 2.5 Km was also organised at Raina Stadium, Chandimandir Military Station. The participants were divided into three Age Groups – Upto 25 years, 26 to 40 years and 40 years and above with three prizes in each age group category. A large number of ladies from all age groups enthusiastically participated in the event.(SUBHEAD)
At Amritsar and Tibri Military Stations, health check up of more than 800 ladies was conducted including screening for Obesity, Anaemia, Diabetes, Osteoporosis and Cancers – Breast and Cervical. Latest techniques like Bone Dosimetry and PAP Smear Tests were used to screen ladies for ailments.
Western Command pays tribute to the unwavering spirit of women who have broken barriers, challenged stereotypes and advocated for equality in society in all walks of life.
Every year on 8 March, International Women's Day is celebrated to commemorate and honour women's accomplishments, raise awareness about gender disparities and discrimination as well as promote global support for women.
