Face2News/Ludhiana

Officers of Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST), Ludhiana have recovered an amount of ₹10 crore during the course of an ongoing investigation against a leading real estate developer.

The investigation pertains to the alleged non-payment of Goods and Services Tax (GST) under the Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM) on the upfront lease premium paid to the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) in respect of land taken on long-term lease for development purposes. The period under investigation covers the Financial Years 2022–23 to 2025–26.

During the course of the investigation, the taxpayer has voluntarily deposited an amount of ₹10 crore through the electronic cash ledger towards its GST liability.

In its endeavour to create a tax-compliant ecosystem, Central GST, Ludhiana is actively pursuing various enforcement measures, which have resulted in the recovery of ₹93 crore of GST in the current financial year so far.

Further investigation in the matter is under progress.
