THE ACCUSED REMANDED TO POLICE CUSTODY FOR TWO DAYS FOR FURTHER INTERROGATION

In another breakthrough the following accused has been arrested by Police Station Cyber Crime, Sec.17, Chandigarh the leadership of Sh. Ketan Bansal, IPS, SPCyber, UT, Chandigarh, under close guidance of Sh. A Venkatesh, DSP/Cyber Crime& IT UT, Chandigarh and supervision of Inspector Sh. Ranjit Singh, SHO Police StationCyber Crime, Sec.17, Chandigarh, solved the Case FIR No. 131 dated 29.12.2023 U/s 420 & 120B IPC of PS-Cyber Crime, UT, Chandigarh.
The accused identified as Ankit Gaur S/o Vinay Kymar Gaur Aye 30 yrs.R/O #2, Kaushal Enclave, Zirakpur, Punjab. (P/Add #20B, AKS Home Zirakpur, Punjab)
The present case has been registered on the complaint of Priyanka Rana # 1508 Sector 34 D, Chandigarh in which complainant reported that She was searching a room on the rent in Chandigarh. In this regard she saw an advertisement on facebook
along with given mobile number 8699716623.
On 26.08.2023 she contacted the above given mobile number. On this caller told the complainant to send the requirement on whatsapp. Complainant sent in written to caller whatsapp number 8699716623 that she needed one room set. Then, caller shared the picture of the room to complainant on whatsapp and an amount of Rs 9,000/- was settled per month. Caller asked her to pay INR 20,000/- including one month room rent, one month advance & 2,000/- brokerage, and asked to the owner of house on his google pay mobile number 9915968856. (Given by caller).
On 28.08.2023 she transferred Rs.18,000/-, Rs.2,000/- to google pay on mobile number 9915968856. Complainant contacted again to caller to get the room-key. The caller again asked to complainant to pay remaining amount of brokerage of Rs.2,300/- on said google pay mobile number. On 28.08.2023 she transferred Rs.2,300/- to google pay mobile number 9915968856. Complainant neither got room on rent nor her money return by alleged. In which the complainant has financial loss of total amount Rs.
23,500/- by cheaters on her part.
After registration the Case FIR, a raid was conducted at Zirakpur Distt. Mohali Punjab and from where the accused Ankit Gaur S/o Vinay Kymar Gaur R/O #2, Kaushal Enclave, Zirakpur, Punjab. (Permanent Address #20B, AKS Home Zirakpur, Punjab) Aye 30 year has been arrested from his resident with the help of secret information and technical support. 02 days police custody of accused had been
taken from Hon’ble Court.The accused was granted two day police custody for further interrogation of the case.
MODUS OPERANDI: The modus operandi of this case is that fraudster publish advertisement on social media platform i.e. Facebook pages as broker of room rent provider. Fraudster make fraud/cheat with the innocent citizens in the name of providing room on rent and obtained money in the name of Advance, Security, Brokerage and Rent charges.
