ABOHAR EXCLUDED FROM ‘RANGLA PUNJAB’ GRANTS, MLA SLAMS AAP GOVT

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

While Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party speak of creating a ‘Rangla Punjab’, the government perhaps needs to be reminded that Abohar is also a part of Punjab. Grants worth Rs 5 crore each have been released for Fazilka, Balluana and Jalalabad constituencies, Abohar is consistently being deprived of these development works and funds.

Stating this, MLA Sandeep Jakhar questioned why such discrimination is being meted out to Abohar. In the last four and a half years, three AAP halqa incharges have been changed in Abohar, yet the city’s problems remain unresolved. This is also a reflection on the local AAP leaders who make tall claims but failed to get anything positive done.

Jakhar pointed out that the Abohar Municipal Corporation lacks a permanent Commissioner, adequate staff, and sufficient grants for development projects. How, then, can the city develop?. The people of Abohar are demanding their rightful share of grants and development works. The government should set aside political discrimination and grant Abohar its due rights. ‘Rangla Punjab’ will not be built merely through slogans, but through the equitable development of every city in Punjab.

The MLA noted that only about four months of this government’s tenure remain. Once the BJP forms the next government in Punjab, all stalled development works in Abohar will be executed.

Mayor Pooja Wadhwa, Senior Deputy Mayor Dharamvir Malkat, Deputy Mayor Deepak Chhapola and former Mayor Vimal Thatai were present at the MLA’s media meet.
