AKS ABOHAR’S ‘SARHAD AUR BHI HAIN’ WINS BEST PLAY AWARD IN SHIMLA

‘AKS Abohar’s presentation has won the best play award in the 71st National Dance and Drama Competition held at the historic Gaiety Theatre, Shimla.

AKS chief Mangat Verma, director Deepak Kamboj and press secretary Raghav Nagpal said that the play ‘Sarhad Aur Bhi Hain’ written by Surinder Narula and directed by Sompal Hira was adjudged as the ‘Best Play’ of the competition. In this play, Sandeep Verma, Baljinder, Mehakpreet, Devendra Singh, Inderjit Singh, Sahaj Verma, Siddhak Verma and Puneet Watts mesmerized the audience with their excellent acting.

Sandeep Verma’s make-up, Gurpreet Bawa and Rajni Verma’s set design and the poster prepared by Aman Nagpal had a special contribution in making the play come alive. Sompal Hira was adjudged as ‘Best Director’, Sandeep Verma as ‘Best Supporting Actor’ and Gurpreet Bawa was awarded for ‘Best Set Designing’. Abohar’s leading artist Anjam Gulati, who has been associated with AKS organization for the last 44 years, was honored with the prestigious ‘Shri Sudarshan Gaur Award’ for his unique contribution to theatre.

AKS artist Sahaj Verma secured third place in Bharatanatyam in the national level dance competition. On this achievement, AKS Chief Director Surinder Narula, Deepak Kamboj, Mangat Verma congratulated Satish Patel, Vikram Kamra, Bobby Sandha, Pankaj Garg, Amardeep, Jassi Ajay, Ashwini Miglani, Saksham Kamboj, Manchita Verma, Jyotsna Kamboj, Manjeet Singh Ubhi, Abhijeet Wadhwa and Kanchi Garg.
