AMRITSAR COURT GRANTED ANTICIPATORY BAIL TO BIKRAM MAJITHIA, TWO OTHERS IN MAJITHA POLICE STATION CASE

Face2News/Amritsar

A court in Amritsar on Monday granted anticipatory bail to senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia in connection with FIR No. 91 registered at Majitha Police Station. The case pertains to allegations that Majithia and his supporters entered the police station and bid to secure  the release of Akali worker Jobanpreet Singh from police custody.

The court also granted anticipatory bail to Majithia’s associates, Jodh Singh Samra and Jatinder Pal Singh. According to the FIR, the accused were booked over allegations related to obstructing police duties and intervening in the detention of a party worker at the Majitha police station.

The FIR was registered following an incident at Majitha Police Station in Amritsar district, where Punjab Police alleged that a group led by Majithia entered the police premises and facilitated the release of a detainee. Majithia and the Shiromani Akali Dal have denied wrong doing and described the case as politically motivated.
