In a unique initiative, the City branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad has launched an initiative to honour daughters-in-law who care for elderly family members, recognising their contribution towards strengthening family values and promoting respect for senior citizens.

As part of the initiative, the parishad honoured Kajal Sharma and Praveen Sharma with shawls for their selfless service to their mother-in-law, Kaushalya Devi (95), who passed away recently. The honour was conferred at the bhog ceremony held at Parmarth Bhawan on October 27.

Janak Chaudhary, women participation in-charge of the parishad, said Kajal Sharma and Praveen Sharma had cared for Kaushalya Devi with dedication and affection. In recognition of their service, the parishad decided to honour both women and encourage others to follow their example.

She said elderly people were the family’s most valuable asset and caring for and respecting them was the responsibility of every family. Such initiatives were important to inspire the younger generation to look after their parents-in-law and other elderly family members.

Chaudhary added that the initiative aimed to appreciate daughters-in-law who cared for their elders with commitment and a sense of belonging. The recognition, held during Kaushalya Devi’s bhog ceremony, conveyed a message of compassion, service and the importance of preserving family values.
