BORDER MUN 2.0 TO BRING TOGETHER OVER 500 DELEGATES AT DASS & BROWN WORLD SCHOOL

As part of the celebrations marking 80 years of the DCM Group of Schools, Dass & Brown World School will host Border MUN 2.0 – “From Battlefield to Boardrooms”on July 25 and 26. The two-day event is being organised by the DCM Group of Schools in collaboration with the Ferozepur Literati Association, Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) and the Dass Foundation.

The theme of this year’s conference is “World in Conflict: From West Asia to the Indo-Pacific”, with students engaging in deliberations on some of the most pressing global issues, including the Israel-Hamas conflict, Russia-Ukraine war, Iran-Israel tensions, China-Taiwan dispute and other international security challenges.

DCM Group spokesperson Vikramaditya Sharma said the conference is open to students from Classes VIII to XII and will witness participation from more than 500 delegates representing schools from border districts as well as cities including Pune, Sri Ganganagar, Ambala, Kotkapura, Ludhiana, Hisar, Panchkula, Amritsar, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Sri Muktsar Sahib and Moga. International participation from Australia and Dubai has also been confirmed. Delegates from across the border belt stretching from Wagah to Hussainiwala are expected to take part.

To ensure smooth conduct of the conference, seven committees have been constituted, including the United Nations General Assembly, United Nations Security Council, United Nations Human Rights Council, Disarmament and International Security Committee, Lok Sabha, North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and the Committee for Rapid International Strategic Emergency Simulation (CRISE). Each committee will deliberate on a designated agenda, offering delegates an opportunity to represent world leaders and engage in diplomatic negotiations.

Sharma said Mustafa Kapasi is serving as the Chief Advisor for the event, while Lalit Parinja, Aditya Raj Singh, Dhruvraj, Sejan Agawan, Siddharth Gupta, Shrey Joshi and Jahanvi Kaushal will serve as chairpersons of various committees. Delegates will also be taken on a visit to the Retreat Ceremony at the Hussainiwala Indo-Pak border.

Convener Stuti Sachdeva said the conference will feature 35 sessions over two days, with each of the seven committees conducting five sessions. She said the conference seeks to highlight that while wars may be fought on battlefields, lasting peace is achieved through dialogue, diplomacy and leadership.

“From honouring the courage displayed on battlefields to embracing the art of negotiation in boardrooms, Border MUN 2.0 aims to inspire young minds to understand the complexities of global conflicts and the responsibility of peace-building,” she said, adding that the event would provide students with a platform to develop leadership, critical thinking and diplomatic skills while contributing towards the vision of a safer and more peaceful world.
