CBI APPREHENDS TWO PROCLAIMED OFFENDERS IN BANK FRAUD CASES

The Central Bureau of investigation (CBI) has arrested 02 Proclaimed Offenders namely, Jitendra Kumar and Pooja Pahwa, who have been absconding for Seventeen Years and Four Years respectively, in two separate bank fraud cases.

The accused Jitendra Kumar was involved in an incident of default of a home loan obtained in 2002-03 on the basis of fake and forged salary certificates leading to a loss of Rs. 65.90 Lakh to GIC Housing Finance Limited. The account was declared NPA immediately after the disbursement of the loan. Chargesheets were filed against the accused Jitendra Kumar and 18 others in 2006. He deliberately evaded the trial proceedings and did not appear before the Court since 2009. He was declared a Proclaimed Offender (PO) in January 2013. Sustained efforts by the CBI led to his arrest from Dwarka Mor, New Delhi on 25.08.2026. He will be produced before the competent court for further proceedings as per law.

The accused Pooja Pahwa was involved in the diversion and misappropriation of cash credit facility availed on the basis of false and forged documents leading to a loss of Rs. 10.16 Crore to the Indian Overseas Bank. The account was declared NPA in 2012. She was chargesheeted along with 5 others in 2017. A supplementary chargesheet was filed against 04 bank officials for conspiring with the beneficiary company and individuals. Accused Pooja Pahwa deliberately evaded the trial proceedings and did not appear before the Court since 2022. She was declared a Proclaimed Offender (PO) in 2023. She was apprehended on 04.08.2026 from Ludhiana, Punjab, after continuous intelligence gathering and execution of targeted efforts by the CBI. She is currently in Judicial Custody.
