The Cyber Crime Police Station, Sector 17, Chandigarh, has registered an FIR after a Chandigarh resident allegedly lost ₹75,000 in an online banking fraud without sharing any card details or OTP number.

According to the FIR, complainant Suddam Inderjeet Singh Saini S/o Sh. Parkash Saini, a resident of Sector 32, Chandigarh, stated that he received two to three WhatsApp calls on May 23, 2026, from mobile number 6294688297. The caller allegedly claimed that his debit card courier had been returned and asked him to arrange for its delivery.

The complainant told the caller that he would collect the debit card directly from the Bank. However, later that afternoon, he discovered through the PNB One mobile application that ₹70,000 and ₹5,000 had been debited from his bank account in two unauthorized transactions. He maintained that he had not authorized either payment and suspected that the caller was involved in the fraud.

Following the incident, the complainant lodged an online complaint with the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, receiving Acknowledgement No. 30605260001490.

Based on the complaint, the Cyber Crime Police Station registered FIR No. 90 dated June 27, 2026, against unknown persons under Sections 319(2), 318(4), and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

The investigation has been entrusted to Sub-Inspector Jaskirandeep Kaur, who will probe the alleged cyber fraud and identify those responsible. Police are examining the call details and digital transaction trail as part of the investigation.
