EXCISE DEPARTMENT CONDUCTS RAID ON ILLEGAL LIQUOR SALE POINT NEAR MAULI JAGRAN

Under the able guidance of the Excise & Taxation Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh, Sh. Nishant Yadav and under the direct supervision of the Collector, Excise, Sh. Pradhuman Singh, the Excise Department conducted a raid at Sundar Nagar near Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh, based on specific information.

The raid was conducted by Excise Taxation Inspector (ETI) Sh. Shaveen Jain. During the raid, an illegal liquor sale point being operated from a tin shed was detected.

A total of 1,814 bottles of liquor of various brands were found and confiscated from the spot. The seized liquor comprised 960 bottles of Royal General, 750 bottles of Tango Santra, 96 bottles of Royal Stag, 4 bottles of Iconik White and 4 bottles of All Seasons.

The local police was informed and an FIR has been registered against the person operating the illegal sale point at Police Station Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh, under Section 61-1-14 of the Excise Act and Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)/Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The Excise Department is investigating the backward linkages to ascertain the source of the liquor and identify other persons involved. Further necessary action will be taken as per law.
