The Ferozepur Railway Division has recorded freight revenue of Rs 123.07 crore in September 2026, registering a 45 per cent increase over the corresponding month last year and exceeding the target set by the Northern Railway headquarters by 80 per cent.
Foodgrains contributed Rs 96.84 crore to the revenue, followed by parcel freight train (PFG) loading at Rs 11.26 crore and business-oriented goods (BOG) loading at Rs 6.32 crore.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Freight) Paramdeep Singh Saini said that the division has also introduced several new leasing initiatives through e-auctions in September, including parcel space in the Tripura Sundari Express, SLR leasing in the Jannayak Express and Punjab Mail, and a food van at the Jalandhar City goods shed. These contracts generated Rs 8.785 crore in revenue.
“Other achievements included the first-ever freight loading from Dhilwan goods shed, the launch of a parcel cargo express train between Mundiyampakkam and Sahnewal, and the transportation of persimmon fruit from Ludhiana to Howrah, Kolkata and Guwahati for the first time”, said Sr DCM
He said that the Hoshiarpur goods shed also transported around 49,453 tonnes of material in 761 wagons under ballast loading, generating approximately Rs 24 lakh in revenue.
DRM Sanjeev Kumar said that the division was focusing on identifying new commodities and customers, maintaining regular contact with traders through its Business Development Unit and providing faster, environment-friendly freight transportation.
