FIRING ON SUV AT COLLEGE ROAD IN ABOHAR CREATES PANIC

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

Panic gripped Abohar’s College Road in broad daylight today when a youth on a motorcycle opened rapid fire at the occupants of a Fortuner SUV. Although none was injured in the incident, it has sparked fear among the students and nearby markets.

DSP Harish Kumar and the City-2 cops immediately arrived at the scene; they questioned locals and began an investigation using footage from nearby CCTV cameras.

The DSP Harish Kumar said information about the firing incident on College Road was received this afternoon. Preliminary report revealed that Khushdeep Singh and Parvinder Singh, residents of Wahabwala, were traveling in a Fortuner from the direction of DAV College when unidentified youths fired at the vehicle and fled the scene. A police team is thoroughly investigating the matter and scanning nearby CCTV footage; the accused will soon be identified, apprehended, and subjected to strict legal action.

People recalled that non-students had been roaming in cars around the DAV Campus that has three colleges and a model school. Many can be seen staying around unlicensed vendors besides adjoining streets. There had been frequent incidents of Bullet bikes blowing “pataka” in violation of traffic rules also. As admissions were going on, more nuisance was apprehended by unsocial elements. No cops are deployed outside the campus
