Sriganganagar police have registered a case regarding the planned screening of “Satluj” a film directed by Honey Trehan. Chief Sewadar of s Gurdwara in Sriganganagar, Tejinder Pal Singh Timma, has been named in the FIR registered under Sections 197(1)(c) and 197(1)(d) of the BNS based on the report of ASI Sundar Lal.
The complaint alleged that Timma released a video on his Facebook account appealing to take the film to every household, thereby attempting to create feelings of enmity, hostility, hatred, and ill-will between communities and endangering the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of the country.
On July 8, information went viral on social media that the film would be screened at 8 PM on July 9 at the Gurdwara located on the Padampur road. On the morning of July 9, a CID and police team reached the Gurdwara and gave a clear warning to the committee office-bearers that if the film was screened, a case would be registered, as the film is banned by the state government.
According to Timma, a delegation from the Gurdwara met the Sub-Divisional Officer and the District Collector. They demanded a copy of the written order, but the administration did not provide any written order. Still, they were orally informed that screening the film would lead to legal action. Following this, the Gurdwara management cancelled the film screening.
After the screening was cancelled, Timma shared the full details of the incident on Facebook and strongly criticized the government and administration. In his second video statement, Timma launched a sharp attack on the BJP government, saying: “When films like The Kashmir Files and The Kerala Files can be released, why is the screening of “Satluj’ being stopped in Rajasthan?”
Timma also questioned why cases were being registered against those appealing to screen the film, but no action was taken against the producer and director of the film. He claimed that the first case against him has been registered in the entire country.
Investigating officer SI Darya Singh said today that they are analysing the social media statements issued by Timma
