The Special Task Force (STF), Haryana has successfully secured the extradition of Vainket Garg from Georgia on 11 June 2026. This landmark achievement marks the first extradition from Georgia to India and also represents the 10th deportation/extradition secured by STF Haryana during the year 2026.
The extradition was secured through close cooperation between the Governments of India and Georgia. It demonstrates India’s strong commitment to ensuring that fugitives involved in serious and organized crimes cannot evade justice by taking shelter abroad.
The accused namely Vainket Garg son of Avinash Garg, Age: 29 Years resident of House No. B-20, Ward No. 4, Chandana Colony, Naraingarh, District Ambala, who is the leader of
his gang, comprising approximately 53 members. The gang has been involved in murder, targeted killings, attempt to murder, extortion, organized crime and illegal use of firearms across Ambala, Yamuna Nagar, Kurukshetra, Panchkula and Chandigarh.CRIMINAL BACKGROUND: Vainket Garg is a proclaimed offender and a hardened criminal involved in 34 criminal cases registered in Haryana and Chandigarh. Prior to fleeing India, 23 criminal cases had already been registered against him. Even after escaping abroad, he continued to operate his criminal network through gang associates, resulting in 11 additional criminal cases involving murder, attempt to murder, extortion, organized crime and Arms Act violations.
Major criminal incidents attributed to the gang include the murder of BSP leader Harbilas at Naraingarh, District Ambala, and multiple extortion-related firing incidents in Ambala and Yamuna Nagar districts.Escape from India and International Action : Investigation conducted by STF Haryana revealed that Vainket Garg fled India on 10 December 2024 from Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, to the United Arab Emirates and subsequently travelled to Georgia on 26 January 2025.
During investigation, it was found that he had fraudulently obtained Passport No. C5605892 by using a false residential address at Apartment No. 1502, Tower No. 5, Pyramid Urban Homes-67, Sector-67, Gurugram, Haryana. In this regard, a criminal case was registered at Police Station Naraingarh, District Ambala. Acting on the recommendation of STF Haryana, the passport was revoked on 04 February 2025.
To facilitate his apprehension and return to India, STF Haryana initiated multiple legal and international measures, including issuance of Look Out Circulars (LOCs) (Reference Nos. 2025403630 and 2025405715), an Interpol Red Corner Notice (Control No. A-4045/3-2025), declaration of the accused as a Proclaimed Offender, and procurement of six open-dated arrest warrants through competent courts.
Subsequently, information regarding the presence of the fugitive in Georgia was received through international law enforcement channels, leading to the initiation of extradition proceedings.International Cooperation : The successful extradition was made possible through the coordinated efforts of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, National Central Bureau (NCB)-New Delhi, the Embassy of India in Georgia, and the Embassy of India in Kazakhstan.
STF Haryana places on record its sincere appreciation to the National Central Bureau (NCB)-New Delhi , Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for their crucial role in coordinating with INTERPOL and foreign law enforcement agencies and for providing continuous assistance throughout the extradition process.
STF Haryana also expresses its gratitude to the Government of Georgia and the concerned Georgian judicial and law enforcement authorities for their valuable cooperation and assistance in securing the extradition of the fugitive.
Appreciation is also extended to the Government of Kazakhstan for facilitating the transit of the extradited accused through its territory, which ensured the smooth execution of the operation.
Special appreciation is extended to the Superintendent of Police, Ambala, and his team for their dedicated efforts and cooperation.
The extradition of Vainket Garg marks a significant success in STF Haryana’s ongoing efforts against organized crime and fugitive offenders.
