Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, today announced that India’s Ramsar site tally has reached 103, with the designation of Sukhna Wetland in Chandigarh and Sauj Jheel in Uttar Pradesh as the latest additions to the list.

In a social media post, Shri Yadav said that India continues to strengthen its commitment to wetland conservation. He highlighted the importance being accorded to wetlands by the Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, particularly for conserving biodiversity, enhancing water and climate security, and sustaining local livelihoods.

The Minister said the latest additions reaffirm India’s ongoing efforts to conserve the country’s rich wetland ecosystems and strengthen the ecological, climatic and livelihood benefits they provide. Congratulating Uttar Pradesh and Chandigarh on the achievement, Shri Yadav invited tourists to visit Sukhna and Sauj to explore their natural beauty.
