INDUSIND BANK BRANCH IN BALTANA RUNS WITHOUT CASH, CUSTOMER STRUGGLES TO WITHDRAW ₹3 LAKH

Face2News/Zirakpur:

A customer of IndusInd Bank’s Kalghidhar Enclave branch in Baltana, Zirakpur, faced considerable inconvenience on Monday when she was unable to withdraw ₹3 lakh in cash despite visiting the branch twice.

According to Priyanka Rani, who maintains an account at the branch, she needed the money urgently to make an important payment. She reached the bank at around 11:30 am with her cheque book, but was informed by a bank employee, Monika, that cash was not available at the branch.

Priyanka said she was told that cash would be arranged within about one to one-and-a-half hours and that the bank would call her once the money became available. Her mobile number was also noted by the employee. She said the bank employee initially told her that cash could possibly be arranged from another branch. However, due to lack of time, she preferred to wait for the cash to be arranged at the branch where she held her account.

Priyanka said she waited for the bank’s call but received no call until around 3:15 pm, following which she returned to the branch. However, she was again unable to withdraw the required amount.

According to Priyanka, she was told that a large cash payment had been made from the branch earlier in the day, resulting in insufficient cash being available. She then requested that whatever amount of cash was available be given to her, with the remaining amount to be arranged elsewhere. She alleged that the bank employees refused this option as well, saying that there was no cash available.

She also requested that the required amount be arranged from another branch, but was allegedly told that the branch closing time had arrived and nothing could be done at that stage.
Priyanka said the incident disrupted her urgent payment and forced her to leave her household work and visit the bank twice without getting a solution.

She questioned the bank’s functioning, saying that customers expect access to their own money when they urgently need it. She demanded that senior bank officials investigate the matter, ensure adequate cash availability at the branch and establish an alternative arrangement for customers in such situations.

Priyanka has said that she is now preparing to approach the Consumer Forum over the matter.

The incident has also raised questions about cash management at the branch and the arrangements available to customers when sufficient cash is not available.
