MAJOR GENERAL BHARAT MEHTANI ASSUMES NEW APPOINTMENT AS GOC, KARNATAKA AND KERALA SUB AREA

Major General Bharat Mehtani, who has been serving as the Additional Director General (ADG) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh (PHHP&C), is proceeding to assume command as the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area, headquartered at Bengaluru.

Major General Bharat Mehtani had taken over the prestigious appointment of ADG, NCC Directorate PHHP&C on November 1, 2025, from Major General Jagdeep Singh Cheema. During his tenure of seven months, the General Officer made significant contributions towards strengthening and modernizing NCC activities in the region, with a strong focus on youth development, skill enhancement, and nation-building initiatives.

An accomplished officer with vast operational and administrative experience, Major General Bharat Mehtani has previously commanded an Infantry Brigade in the Western Sector, Jharkhand & Bihar Sub Area, and an Infantry Division in the Western Sector before taking over as ADG NCC. In recognition of his distinguished service, he has been awarded the GOC-in-Chief, Western Command Commendation Card.

Under his leadership, the NCC Directorate PHHP&C undertook several progressive initiatives, including the introduction of drone training modules for cadets, expansion of cyber security awareness programmes, and enhanced career recognition opportunities for NCC ‘C’ Certificate holders. His tenure was marked by a forward-looking approach aimed at equipping NCC cadets with modern skills and greater opportunities.

To honour his impactful tenure, exemplary leadership, and valuable contributions, the NCC Directorate organized a ceremonial farewell in his honour. Officers, staff, and cadets conveyed their gratitude and extended their best wishes for his continued success, good health, and a fruitful tenure in his new appointment as GOC, Karnataka and Kerala Sub Area.

The NCC Directorate PHHP&C expressed confidence that Major General Bharat Mehtani will continue to bring distinction to the Indian Army through his dynamic leadership and professional excellence in his new command.
