MINERVA PUBLIC SCHOOL (CISCE) STORMS INTO SUBROTO CUP SEMI FINALS WITH AN 8-0 TACTICAL MASTERCLASS OVER DELHI

Continuing their dominant, title-chasing run at the 65th Edition Subroto Cup International Football Tournament (Under-15), Minerva Public School, representing CISCE, booked their ticket to the semi-finals with an emphatic 8-0 demolition of Delhi at the SFG Ground, Air Force Station, Jalahalli in Bengaluru.

Kicking off at 10:00 AM, the quarter-final fixture unfolded as a clash of contrasting setups. Minerva lined up in their fluid 4-3-3 formation, fielding Tonmoy in goal behind a defensive back four of Wungsem, Lhungdim, Manichandra, and Baite. The midfield engine of L. Kipgen, Akash, and Ngayaiza dictated play behind the frontline trio of Albert, Mamesh, and Rimoson, while Delhi attempted to weather the pressure with an ultra-compact low block inside their defensive third.

Delhi’s defensive wall breached after ten minutes of sustained pressure when winger Albert beat his marker on the right flank and squared a precise cutback for Akash, who drilled a low first-time strike into the bottom corner. Minerva kept Delhi pinned inside their half, and the breakthrough came again in the 20th minute as Ngayaiza threaded a defense-splitting through ball to Rimoson, who calmly rounded the onrushing goalkeeper to give Minerva a 2-0 cushion at the interval.

The second half turned into a relentless attacking exhibition as Minerva pumped in six unanswered goals. Rimoson led the charge with a four-goal haul, rising highest in the 38th minute to head home Lhungdim’s corner before unleashing a dipping volley from the edge of the box in the 40th minute to make it 4-0. Mamesh pounced on a deflected rebound inside the six-yard box a minute later to add the fifth, followed by a curling strike into the far corner from overlapping fullback Baite in the 45th minute. Rimoson completed his tally in the 48th minute with a clinical chip over the keeper in transition, before Mamesh intercepted a defensive backpass in the 49th minute to blast the ball into the roof of the net, sealing an emphatic 8-0 clean sheet.
